A moment I’ll never forget happened right after the ceremony: overwhelmed with emotion and the summer heat, Sonia gently guided us to her air-conditioned car for a private moment to breathe and reset. Later that evening, when my feet were aching from hours in heels, she knelt down and carefully placed band-aids on my blisters—treating me with the kind of care and tenderness you’d expect from family.
