Charm, Shamal & Chanuki went above and beyond to deliver us our incredible dream wedding! It was absolute perfection and everything we’d ever dreamed of. The majority of our friends said that it was the best wedding they’ve ever been to.
They were there all the way through and the organisation was second to none. Between them they have many years of experience and it really shows. Everything was beautifully detailed and documented. The quality and attention to detail was second to none and they only work with the absolute best in the business. They delivered us a beautifully themed pineapple wedding!
We honestly can’t thank then enough and would highly recommend them to anyone! Best wedding planners in Sri Lanka by far!

Congratulations !!!! You have just got engaged, and both decided on a exotic destination wedding in Sri Lanka, now the real fun begins with making the day you have dreamed of for so long , become a realty. Let us share with you some insight into our Destination wedding and why we decided to work with Magical Moments and how we went about it from the moment he popped the question to the big day
In December 2016 Alex swept me off my feet when he popped the question on a Private Beach in the beautiful tropical surroundings of Mauritius. Taking me to my motherland and having planned the whole day with the hotel the time had come for Alex to take the plunge and show his love and commitment by asking me to marry him. After the series of emotions that follows a good few days after it was time to start planning.
Where does one even start? Both Alex and I knew we wanted to celebrate our wedding on a beach somewhere that was fun, rustic, very green had a good beach vibe, a place our family and friend could turn into a little holiday. Living and working in Dubai, Sri lanka is a short 4 hour flight away, it remains a popular holiday destination for many coming from the UAE where everthing is covered in glitz, glamor and wrapped in gold . We knew we wanted something raw and untouched and Sri Lanka was quickly marked off as our chosen destination.
Unlike most couples we didn’t choose to hold the wedding in a Hotel but a private villa having our immediate families stay with us for the couple of days leading up to the wedding was key for us. The pros of hosting a wedding in a private villa is that you can have as many guests as you like on the day and it remains a highly exclusive and yet intimate event.
Once we had picked Talaramba Reef as our chosen venue we began to research how everything would come together and decided as we were not living in Sri Lanka nor could we speak the language we needed the help of someone on sight who could advise us and bring the ideas we had to fruition. We were recommended to get in contact with Magical Moments from the owners of the villa. Shamal was my first introduction to Magical moments and was very helpful he spent a lot of time putting my mind at ease with the process for destination weddings. He were very transparaent with how they work and provided a rough time scale of how things will pan out, for example; In the UK a couple is required to book a venue, band and photographer almost 12 months in advance, whereas in Sri Lanka you only need to confirm things up to eight weeks before the Big Day. This was the biggest mental hurdle we had to overcome as speaking to family and friends we were unable to confirm we had anything booked until 8 weeks before the wedding, so there was a lot of hesitation and what if’s, as we hadn’t much time for a back up plan in case things didn’t go as expected, but Shamal and the team reassured us to stop worrying and to put our trust in them and that’s exactly what we did. Our first few discussions what really getting an understanding on what kind of wedding we wanted we knew we wanted a rustic wedding as it would go with the Style of the villa and over the course of a few weeks we were back and forth with setting up mood boards on Pinterest to create a wedding they could bring to realty.
There was a lot of going back and forth by emails between myself and the planner, i am pretty sure we pushed them out of their comfort zone with the little qwerks we wanted ( Pimms and Lemonade for Cocktails, where to hang lanterns, best place to have the sparklers, with magical moments they really do listen and take on board your comments, queries and if at first your ideas don’t seem possible they will make it happen. We were lucky enough to visit Sri Lanka once before the wedding at the end of November (four months before the wedding) where we had the opportunity to meet with Charm, Shamal’s beautiful wife who is the creative designer behind everything. Once Shamal had an idea of what we wanted we worked closely with Charm and her assistant Chanuki with the design for the day (positioning of furniture, and the lighting, seating plans ) they went above and beyond to ensure during our short trip we were able to fit in as much as possible they organised meetings with the caterers to sample some of their food, photographers so we could see their work, the florists so we could have a look at their floral arrangements bouquets and table designs and decide whom we felt we were comfortable working with they themselves also took time out of their busy schedule to arrange to meet us at the venue where we could walk through the site with them and show them the set up we envisaged on the day. This was incredibly helpful to Alex and I, and reassured us we had picked the right wedding planners as they were so thorough with their work and despite all our questions and reservations they answered every email, WhatsApp and Skyped us whenever possible nothing was ever too much trouble. Up to the day of the wedding we were back and forth on emails until the planners were happy that we were happy, and we-knew without any shadow of a doubt they would create the perfect day, decor and timelines we wanted, they are so hardworking, both Shamal and Charm literally never stop working and was such a credit to have this lovely team husband and wife create our perfect day, their hard work definitely pays off
The day had finally come for Alex and I to tie the knot on 28/3/18, the planners were up at the venue at 6 am and were ready at work overseeing the florist, the catering company and their staff this was after being at the venue all day before and very late into the night (to be honest they can’t have slept a wink) The day of the wedding was surreal and you are completely oblivious as a bride to what’s going on around you, awaiting to see all your ideas come to fruition which is so rewarding. The planners ensured everything from the time the first guest arrived till the pool party in the evening went to plan and everything came together perfectly. Magical moments have completed exceeded our expectation and till today our family and friends are very impressed with all the finishing touches it definitely puts a smile on our faces to hear how much fun everyone had and to look back over our wedding album to see just how fantastic everything was. It was the best day of our lives and we cannot thank Magical moments for helping bring our ideas to life. Charm, Shamal and Chanuki spent hours to make sure they delivered what we wanted as a customer we never felt anything was too much. We have no hesitation in recommending Magical moment as they are simple amazing and an absolute pleasure to work with.
