The Malta Florist is run by Marisabelle and Charles — a husband and wife team who bring something most florists simply can’t. Marisabelle trained in floral design in the UK and, after eight years of designing hundreds of weddings and events, now teaches floral design at the Malta College of Arts, Science and Technology helping to shape Malta’s next generation of florists. Charles is an agronomist who grows the flowers — in our greenhouses and open fields. When you work with us, the person who designed your bouquet and the person who grew the roses in it are the same two people who will be at your venue on your wedding day, setting everything up with their own hands.
We founded the studio in 2019 with a clear intention: to do weddings properly, and to do them sustainably. Around 70% of the blooms we use are cultivated in our own Maltese greenhouses, tended through the seasons and cut at the peak of their beauty. For flowers that can’t thrive in our Mediterranean climate, we source selectively from trusted international growers. Nothing reaches you without meeting our standard. In 2023, that commitment was recognised when we won Malta’s Most Sustainable and Innovative Business award.
Over the years we’ve had the privilege of designing for an extraordinary range of celebrations — intimate local weddings, elaborate Indian ceremonies with their wonderful demand for colour and abundance, Jewish weddings with their own beautiful traditions, and destination weddings where couples have chosen Malta as the backdrop for one of the most important days of their lives. We transformed Manoel Island into an open-air garden for a wedding of over 2,500 guests. We’ve set up on beaches, on yachts, in restaurants, in gardens, and everywhere in between. Each one has taught us something. Each one is designed from scratch.
Every couple we work with receives a fully bespoke proposal built around their vision, their colours, and the feeling they want to carry through the day. No templates. No recycled designs. Just flowers that feel unmistakably, entirely yours.
Our couples tell us the same thing, in different words: that on the day, the flowers felt like theirs. That is what we design toward.
