This holiday altered my brain chemistry
My partner and I visited Platte Island in the last week of February for our honeymoon, right after our wedding. Having looked at the pictures, we knew the island was beautiful, but nothing could have possibly prepared us for the breathtaking beauty that awaited us.
The island is an untouched slice of paradise, tucked away in a remote corner of the Indian Ocean. We started our days with sunrise walks along the sugar-white sand beaches, often greeted by juvenile marine life in the surrounding lagoon—rightly dubbed “the kindergarten.” Afternoons were spent in restful siestas in our villa, cozily sheltered from the sweltering tropical heat.
Every sunset was saturated with color and magic—what a treat to witness them from our villa garden. But the best part of our days was the nights, with Bortle 1 skies shimmering overhead and the racket of noddies filling the air. Falling asleep to the island’s natural ASMR was an unparalleled experience. Just thinking about it makes us ache to return.
As if all of this wasn’t enough, we were lucky enough to witness a turtle hatching in the garden of our own villa—utterly sublime to see nature unfold in real time. A week wasn’t nearly enough. It was our most restful holiday to date; we feel renewed and whole.
A special shoutout to Angelle, our excellent personal concierge, who spoiled us rotten with daily surprises like rum tastings, romantic picnics, and special baths waiting for us at night. To Vinay, who memorized our breakfast order and pampered us every morning. To Dhiraj, who took great care of us during our dinner date at Moulin. And to Vincent, who served us the most delicious Creole cuisine at Maison des Épices—their octopus curry is to die for!
A huge thanks to the WA Platte Island team for an unforgettable holiday. We couldn’t have possibly dreamt up a dreamier honeymoon!

Let me start by saying that we were celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary. This was our 2nd trip to the Seychelles. The first time we stayed at the Four Seasons.
From beginning to end, the resort and the service were outstanding. We arrived on an early morning flight in Male and had about a 5 hour layover. We were met out our gate by a representative and escorted to the Waldorf Lounge at Male airport. I believe his name was Yves. he was a superb representative for the hotel. He was so helpful and informative.
The Waldorf Seychelles is situated on its own island. It really is beautiful. Our pool villa was spectacular. The attention to detail in the rooms (such as beach bag, hats, water shoes, twice a day housekeeping) really stood out. But what makes this place special is the people, in particular our concierge/host (Yogi). Yogi handled all of our dinner reservations, spa appointments, and transport around the property. She also was very thoughtful in leaving us special treats. One day, I wasn’t feeling well and she made sure to send some special tea to our room. She also arranged a special sushi dinner one night (sushi is on the lunch menu, but not dinner). I can’t say enough positive things about everyone on the staff, but in particular Yogi.
The food was very good at all of the restaurants. We were worried that we would get tired of the food. But everything we had, we really enjoyed at each restaruants. I know that some people complain about pricing and “”yes”” it is expensive, but the quality and experience was very good.
The only thing that disappointed us about our trip was it rained 3/5 days. That is the not the hotel’s fault. But it allowed us to spend more time in the spa and gym.
We don’t repeat a lot of hotels and resorts, but this is one I would absolutely consider coming back to.

Staying at this resort was the most wonderful way to celebrate our wedding anniversary. However, what truly made it a remarkable experience was the care that was provided to us by our concierge, Viktoriia. Viktoriia was the most amazing concierge my wife and I ever had — and that’s saying a lot given that we have visited over 15 resorts across the globe within the last year. She truly provides world-class service that is in a league of her own. She was extremely prompt with our requests, very attentive and considerate, and has a wonderful, gentle yet warm and professional demeanor. She is also an excellent photographer and helped us take portraits! She is extremely committed to her job and hard-working. Our stay at the Waldorf Astoria Seychelles Platte Island would not have been the same without her. Thank you, Viktoriia!
